A DASH OF CUSTARD

TODAY NATASHA AND I WENT BACK TO FORT ABRAHAM LINCOLN.  IT WAS COOLER TODAY COMPARED TO YESTERDAY SO BEING OUTSIDE WAS A BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE.

IT ALL STARTED WITH A TOUR OF THE ELEGANT LOOKING HOUSE YOU WILL SHORTLY SEE IN THE PICTURES.  THE HOUSE ITSELF WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL HOUSE THAT GENERAL GEORGE ARMSTRONG CUSTER STAYED IN WHILE HE WAS IN COMMAND. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A REPLICA A LOT OF THE FURNISHING INSIDE WERE EITHER ORIGINAL TO THE ACTUAL HOUSE OR WERE ORIGINAL OF THAT PERIOD.

WALKING UP THE FRONT POARCH TO THE HOUSE MADE YOU FEEL AS IF YOU WERE BEING TRANSPORTED BACK IN TIME TO AN OLD TYME FRONTIER WAY OF LIFE.

THE PARADE FIELD AND TROOP BARRACKS WERE ALSO A SIGHT TO BEHOLD.  WHILE CROSSING THE PARADE FIELD ALL ONE HAD TO DO WAS TO STOP AND CLOSE THEIR EYES FOR JUST A MINUTE AND YOU COULD ALMOST HERE THE TROOPS DRILLING AND THE HORSES HOOVES CLOPPING ON THE GROUND AROUND YOU.
