A LARGE ROCK AND A NEEDLE

NATASHA AND I HAD ANOTHER ADVENTURE THIS PAST WEEKEND.  WE VISITED AN UNFAMILIAR TOWN NAMED KEYSTONE, SD. AND TRAVELED UPON A SCENIC ROUTE NAMED THE NEEDLES HIGHWAY.

IT WASN’T AT ALL LIKE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. I GUESS I THOUGHT YOU WOULD PULL OVER ON THE EDGE OF THE ROAD AND TAKE A PICTURE AND THAT WOULD BE IT.  BUT MOUNT RUSHMORE WAS A LOT MORE THAN THAT.  IT WAS A TREMENDOUS TREAT TO SAY THE LEAST.  IT GOT OFF TO A HAIL OF A START BUT THE CLOUDS CLEARED AND THE MAGIC HAPPENED RIGHT ON CUE.

AFTER LOOKING AT ONE OF OUR NATION’S GREATEST ROCK WE TOOK A RIDE DOWN THE NEEDLES HIGHWAY.  IT WAS LIKE DRIVING AN INDY RACE WITH ALL OF THE HAIRPIN TURNS BUT AT A SLOWER PACE.  THE VIEWS AND WILDLIFE WERE BEAUTIFUL.  YOU NEVER THINK ABOUT GETTING TO GO TO A PLACE LIKE THIS BUT I AM GLAD WE DID.  IT WAS GREAT.
